Understanding the pattern. Considering the next choice.

A conversation about meaning, emotions, relationships, and everyday life.

Let’s Talk

MY APPROACH

The question can be both personal and practical.

You may want to understand why a familiar situation brings such a strong response. You may also need to decide what to say, how to approach a change, or what feels manageable this week.

We can make room for both. Therapy can include looking at the beliefs and patterns underneath an experience while staying connected to the choices you are facing now.

My work draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and emotionally focused therapy. We can discuss how those approaches relate to your concerns rather than expecting you to know the terminology before we begin.

PATTERNS AND BELIEFS

Notice what feels automatic.

Some ideas are so familiar that you may not think of them as beliefs. They can sound like rules about what you should want, how you should respond, or what another person’s reaction means.

We can look at those patterns with curiosity. Where did you learn them? How do they affect your choices? Which still reflect your values, and which feel harder to live by now?

Exploring a belief does not require immediately rejecting it. There can be room to understand its history and the meaning it has in your life today.

EMOTIONS AND COPING

Make space for a response you can understand.

Mindfulness can involve noticing what is happening in the moment. Emotional regulation and coping skills can help us talk about how you respond when a situation feels difficult.

We can discuss these ideas in relation to your daily life: a conversation, a change in routine, a loss, or a decision that brings uncertainty.

The focus of our work is something we discuss together. The approaches I draw on are resources for that conversation, not a promise that every person will follow the same sequence.

RELATIONSHIPS AND MEANING

Your experience happens in a life with other people.

A shift in beliefs or identity may affect a partner, family, or community. You may be considering how to stay connected while making choices that feel more consistent with your values.

We can explore the emotions and relationship patterns involved. Individual therapy and couples therapy offer different ways to discuss these experiences; a consultation can help us consider fit.

I offer sessions by video for adults in Texas and Colorado. A free 15-minute consultation is a place to begin with your questions.
