Swimmers face dark, cold ocean in 20-mile swim from Catalina to Palos Verdes (opens in a new tab)
An interview about the Catalina Channel crossing.

MEET KERRY
I enjoy working with people who are ready to explore the beliefs they grew up with and how those beliefs may be limiting their choices.
You may be going through a life transition that has you questioning what you were taught about relationships, religion, politics, or who you are supposed to be. I want our conversations to make room for those questions.
We can talk about coping with change and the meaning and values that feel right for the adult you are today. You do not have to arrive with everything figured out.
WHAT CONNECTS THE WORK
A major change can affect the way you understand yourself. A loss can raise questions about meaning. A shift in a relationship can bring family expectations or inherited beliefs to the surface.
Even the changes connected with athletics can involve identity, expectations, and the way you respond when a familiar routine no longer fits.
These experiences can look different on the outside while sharing questions underneath: What matters to me? What am I carrying forward? What do I want to understand about the choices I make?

A PERSONAL CONNECTION
I am an open-water marathon swimmer. Athletics can be meaningful in ways that go beyond a result, and I bring that personal understanding to conversations about athletic life.
In therapy, we can talk about the beliefs, focus, expectations, and transitions connected with your goals. The work stays grounded in your experience as a whole person.
I am a licensed clinical social worker. Athletic experience is part of my story, and I am interested in the whole person behind the goals.

HOW I WORK
My approach draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and emotionally focused therapy. We can discuss patterns in thoughts and responses, emotions, relationships, and coping skills.
Mindfulness and emotional regulation can be part of the work, alongside questions about meaning and values. We can connect those ideas to what is happening in your daily life.
A free consultation gives us a chance to talk about what you are seeking and whether my focus fits. Therapy is offered by video for adults in Texas and Colorado.
